On June 5th, Jacquie Likins (and Tricia Highley) hosted an amazing silent auction in an effort to raise funds for the women and babies in Zambia. Just after finishing her work with the Meadowlark festival Jacquie began organizing this auction last Saturday night!! It came together beautifully despite the rain. There were over 20 businesses and artists who kindly donated to the cause (see the thank you section for a list of names).
As the evening went on people began bidding more and more and by the end of the evening after counting up the funds we raised over $1000!! Great success. We hope to use the money towards a need specific to St Francis Hospital. This way the money will go directly to the women and babies that need it.
In the past some of the things students have done includes hiring a local seamstress to create vinyl mattress covers for the beds as well as buying paint and doing the labour to paint the wards. Keep checking our blog for details as to what we find that is needed this year!
THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO EVERYONE WHO PARTICIPATED
